Intake consultation
You have a first conversation with the obesity nurse, endocrinologist or surgeon. You receive information about obesity, the associated health risks and the possible treatments.

Examinations and consultations
A number of examinations and conversations follow with the dietitian, psychologist, endocrinologist and surgeon to fully map out your situation.

Multidisciplinary consultation
All findings are discussed as a team, to which your general practitioner is also invited. You then receive a definitive and personal recommendation.

Preparation
In preparation, you follow a protein diet for 1 week before the procedure to reduce the size of the liver. Stopping smoking is strongly recommended to lower the risk of complications.

Surgery and admission
The procedure is performed by keyhole surgery or with the robot. In most cases you are admitted on the day of the procedure and can go home the next day.

Lifelong follow-up
After the operation you are intensively followed up by the surgeon, endocrinologist, dietitian, psychologist and physiotherapist. Good follow-up gives the best long-term result.
